Spain: I will kill you bolleras – Lesbian family attacked

Spain

“I will kill you, bolleras” [d*kes]
Two lesbian mothers were quietly with one of their three children, 4 years old, on a terrace in Barcelona, just two days after having held a Pride dedicated to homoparental families, when a drunk man came and attacked them in front of the child.
The Guàrdia Urbana intercepted the man, JMLL.M. (his initials), who now faces charges of threats, light mistreatment and a criminal offence against fundamental rights or hatred. The man approached and touched the child (we do not know why) and, obviously, one of the mothers told him what he did to which the man answered with insults.

Germany: young group attacks lesbian at Kottbusser Dam

L2L Germany

On Sunday evening, a lesbian woman in Berlin-Neukölln was attacked by a group of youths. This was announced by the Berlin police. According to recent findings, the 27-year-old had been walking on the Kottbusser Dam at around 7 pm, when she was splashed by about four to five teenagers with water. When the young woman addressed the young people, she was pushed to the ground and kicked several times.

When witnesses rushed to her aid, the attackers left the 27-year-old alone and fled. The young woman stated that she suspected she had been attacked for her outward appearance and sexual orientation. She suffered minor injuries to her torso and arms. The police state protection at the state criminal police in Berlin has – as usual for suspected politically-motivated violence – taken over further investigations.

Update: Argentinian lesbian jailed for one year for resisting lesbophobic arrest

Mariana Gomez Rocio Girat

Kissing is not a crime, Enough of lesbian-hate and Absolution for Marian could be read on the multicoloured placards that dozens of activists held from ten in the morning in front of Criminal Court No. 26 of Buenos Aires. On the International LGBTIQ + Pride Day , they awaited the verdict in the trial against Mariana Gómez, accused of resistance to authority and minor injuries to the police who arrested her when she kissed her wife, Rocío Girat, and smoked in the lobby of a station. The festive chants that had been heard for almost two hours were transformed into a growing murmur of disbelief: Judge Marta Yungaro sentenced Gomez to one year in prison. She will not go to jail, but she must pay the costs of the trial.

Brazil: The lesbian activist who defends LGBT rights in the Amazon

dani-lesbiana-indigena

Dani is the indigenous woman who stars in the second chapter of ‘Rainforest Defenders’ and one of the leaders, at only 21 years old, of the Amazonian resistance to the logging, mining and agrarian threat. But Dani is something else. She is one of the first indigenous women to say openly that she is a lesbian and use her visibility to fight for the LGTB cause in the Amazon.

She belongs to one of the communities that live on the banks of the Tapajós River, a mixture of ancient native settlers, indigenous people, descendants of African slaves and whites of Portuguese origin. Communities that are trying to avoid the exploitation and destruction of their land.

Dani’s community has an advantage over the majority, as it is considered [in] a Conservation Reserve, and therefore temporarily protected from indiscriminate extraction. But the young woman still has to fight against the threats that the extensive cultivation of soy exerts on her land and also against the prejudices of her own community, of the evangelist church, religion they profess, and of her own family .(Translated)

Three mysterious deaths and dozens of violent attacks on butch lesbians, or camionas, have put lesbians in Chile’s Fifth region on red alert.

“We call the Fifth region Chile’s red zone for lesbians because of María, Nicole and Susana,” says Karen Vergara. “There are many other attacks. Not as brutal or fatal as these but enough to land lesbians – especially camionas – in hospital. “We as lesbians are always on red alert in this town [Quillota]. Day and night, 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We feel under threat. As soon as you step out of your home you are in danger.

Colombia: lesbophobia against female soccer players by Deportes Tolima President Gabriel Camargo

In the legal action signed by the ombudsman, Carlos Alfonso Negret said that the sports leader [Gabriel Camargo] had discriminated against and degraded the players when he said that the League was a breeding ground for lesbianism, “accusing the players of being more “Tomatrago” than men.

Negret considers that the judgments issued by the courts have only been directed to the public retraction of these statements, omitting any type of protection for the soccer players who were directly affected by these unsubstantiated accusations.

She considers that despite the fact that Camargo and the directors of the club apologised through their social networks and web page, no ruling was issued to prevent discriminatory acts, to reduce the inequality gap and [to promote] the inclusion of all women in Colombia.

Spain: Man jailed after attack on lesbian couple

Spain

The aggressor of two lesbian girls who were walking quietly while they were attacked, will go to jail. In addition, a fine has been imposed, plus compensation to repair the moral damages inflicted on the victims. Early in October of 2017, two lesbian girls calmly walk hand in hand by Sant Andreu, in Barcelona. So far so good, until several individuals attacked them with punches and kicks. They, without a word, attacked these two girls for being a couple, the reason – their sexual orientation.

That these things continue to happen today, makes our hair stand on end, especially when they happen in a country that has approved equal marriage for years, even more so in the case of Barcelona, a very tolerant and gay-friendly city. But we are even more concerned that the individual who led the aggression enters prison for other reasons [than the assault].

Australia: Matilda’s captain Sam Kerr exposes lesbophobic trolls

To understand the Matildas as subordinate to a coach is to misread the room; the Australian national women’s football team has always been a player-led environment. They have continued to express, to some deaf ears, they were happy under Milicic and buying into his game plan.
But the morning after their ‘miracle in Montpellier’, Kerr took aim at a new class of hater; the trolls and the homophobes.
The 25-year-old screen-captured one example of abuse, Tweeting it alongside a message: “For people getting upset about there being ‘no’ haters”.

U.K: Bus driver called lesbian cyclist a ‘f**king d*ke’

img_9389

30-year-old Natalie Lewendon was riding her bicycle home from work in Bristol on Tuesday (11 June) just after 4pm.

As she was heading east on Church road through Lawrence Hill, the traffic slowed down and ‘without warning’, the car she was cycling alongside swung into her path, causing her to brake suddenly.

‘I began to tell the driver off for not looking,’ Lewendon exclusively told Gay Star News. ‘She completely owned that it was her fault and was instantly apologizing to me through the window.’

However, a First Bus bus driver approaching from the opposite direction stopped his bus — holding up traffic — to yell at Lewendon for being in the wrong.

‘I told him that he had no idea what he was talking about and to keep driving,’ Lewendon explained. ‘He continued, leaning out of his window, to berate me at full volume, telling me I was wrong.’

At this point, Lewendon put her bike on the pavement ground and approached the vehicle to get the bus driver’s name and badge number.

‘He continued to abuse me and gave me that “gab gab gab” hand gesture and then finally drove away,’ she said. ‘But not before leering at me and calling me a “fucking dyke”.

‘He dropped his voice while he did it. He knew it was wrong. Lots of people had stopped to watch,’ she said.

Luleki Sizwe Womyn’s Project: Fighting for Lesbian Safety in South Africa

lulekisizwe-ndumie-funda-2019-06-11-gcn01_z.jpg

In 2006, South Africa became the fifth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage. So the country must be naturally progressive about LGBTQ equality, right?

The reality is that homophobia, brutal hate crimes, “corrective rape,” and other anti-LGBTQ violence persist, with profoundly heartbreaking effects. And it makes the fight for basic safety in the queer community risky and incredibly difficult.

But over the past decade, one organization has risen to the challenge. Luleki Sizwe Womyn’s Project (luleki-sizwe.com) is a non-profit devoted to delivering help and support to lesbians who are victims of homophobic attacks and rape across 10 South African township communities.

Funda of course welcomes donations — but the group has long encountered problems collecting international non-profit funds through its PayPal account. So, at present, the alternate donation method is via direct bank transfer, which this writer successfully did online in just a few minutes.

The organization’s business transaction account details are: Luleki Sizwe Womyn’s Project; Standard Bank South Africa, Cape Town; account number 071362940; branch code 024909; SWIFT code SBZAZAJJ. The Luleki Sizwe Womyn’s Project can be contacted at 071-171-9654 and info@luleki-sizwe.com. These details are also listed at luleki-sizwe.com/donate.

Update: Five teens arrested in lesbophobic attack

A lesbian couple was attacked on a douple-decker London bus late last month.

Five teenagers have been arrested in connection with a homophobic attack on a London bus late last month, London police say.

Melania Geymonat posted about the violent incident on her Facebook page last week, describing what began as a date night with her partner Chris. On the way home, a group of young men began harassing them. “They started behaving like hooligans, demanding that we kissed so they could enjoy watching, calling us ‘lesbians’ and describing sexual positions,” she wrote. The couple was beaten and bloodied by the group, who allegedly stole their belongings.

Much like many other companies, Electronic Arts Inc joined in on the celebration of Pride month, which is held each June to honor the Stonewall riots of 1969. They did this by adding a handful of flags and other Pride gear to The Sims 4 that players could use in-game to celebrate. While the developers have seemingly always been inclusive for members of the LGBTQ+ communities, they definitely slipped up with the recently revealed addition as out of the 17 flags they included, they left out the lesbian flag.
