“A poem about the public lesbian experience and how the word ‘lesbian’ has become so hostile it is even taboo among our own communities, and outside our community it is mostly used as a slur or a porn category. Dedicated to the victims of increased hate crimes this pride. Filmed and directed by Tamara al-Mashouk.”

Laura Muldoon tweeted a photograph of a group of men she alleges called her ‘lesbo’, ‘dyke’ and ‘miserable bitch’ as she boarded her flight from Stansted to Seville, Spain, on Wednesday.
Laura, who works as the social media manager at the Museum of London, sarcastically tweeted:
‘First holiday snap!
‘Of this bunch of lads who chanted that I was a “miserable bitch”, “dyke” and “lesbo” (very well observed!) on @Ryanair flight 12.27 from Stansted to Seville today.
‘Oh yeah, flight crew did nothing.’

To understand the Matildas as subordinate to a coach is to misread the room; the Australian national women’s football team has always been a player-led environment. They have continued to express, to some deaf ears, they were happy under Milicic and buying into his game plan.
But the morning after their ‘miracle in Montpellier’, Kerr took aim at a new class of hater; the trolls and the homophobes.
The 25-year-old screen-captured one example of abuse, Tweeting it alongside a message: “For people getting upset about there being ‘no’ haters”.

30-year-old Natalie Lewendon was riding her bicycle home from work in Bristol on Tuesday (11 June) just after 4pm.
As she was heading east on Church road through Lawrence Hill, the traffic slowed down and ‘without warning’, the car she was cycling alongside swung into her path, causing her to brake suddenly.
‘I began to tell the driver off for not looking,’ Lewendon exclusively told Gay Star News. ‘She completely owned that it was her fault and was instantly apologizing to me through the window.’
However, a First Bus bus driver approaching from the opposite direction stopped his bus — holding up traffic — to yell at Lewendon for being in the wrong.
‘I told him that he had no idea what he was talking about and to keep driving,’ Lewendon explained. ‘He continued, leaning out of his window, to berate me at full volume, telling me I was wrong.’
At this point, Lewendon put her bike on the pavement ground and approached the vehicle to get the bus driver’s name and badge number.
‘He continued to abuse me and gave me that “gab gab gab” hand gesture and then finally drove away,’ she said. ‘But not before leering at me and calling me a “fucking dyke”.
‘He dropped his voice while he did it. He knew it was wrong. Lots of people had stopped to watch,’ she said.

Emilie Lopez, former editor-in-chief of “Touche pas à mon Poste”, has been threatened with death on social networks by individuals who reproach her for being lesbian.
“In recent months, it has been ramping up with terrifying messages. I once received a video of a boy masturbating, who said to me, “You’ll see I’ll put it deep when I get to the studio.” Then last October, a guy on Instagram told me to “commit suicide” and attacked my girlfriend. This individual was speaking with his true identity, and with a real profile picture, and it really made me flip! I realised that all this was real, and I decided to file a complaint for the first time.”
A lesbian couple have posted pictures of themselves covered in blood after a gang of thugs bashed them for not kissing for their entertainment.
Melania Geymonat, 28, of Uruguay, was on the bus with her American girlfriend Chris after an evening out in West Hampstead in the early hours of May 30.
Ms Geymonat, who lives in Essex, said the pair decided to sit at the front because they both enjoyed the novelty of a double-decker bus.
Then a gang of young men behind them saw they were a couple and started to demand they kiss while making crude sexual gestures.
“They wanted us to kiss so they could watch us,” she said.

[Taylor] De Souza had to get stitches on her head after she said her Uber ride ended with her being physically assaulted by the driver.
“He said ‘you f—ing lesbian, get out my car,'” De Souza said. “He told me he’ll chop me up and throw me in the river.”
De Souza told PIX11 she did not get out of the vehicle because she said she didn’t feel safe. According to De Souza, that’s when the driver started smoking, despite her telling him she has asthma.

Only one day after more than 300 thousand women filled the centre of Madrid with sorority, vindication and cries of equality and justice, only the day after women, and especially lesbian women, fought for the cessation of the lesbophobia and discrimination based on sexual orientation, unacceptable lesbophobic aggression occurs. … This story happened on Saturday in the neighborhood of Salamanca. Celia, from Madrid, was walking with her Belgian girlfriend, Capucine, and they told us that the events took place: “It was 8 o’clock in the afternoon and we were in Goya street 17. In that portal there is a kind of corridor that leads to a interior patio that has shops. We were walking and we went to see them. While we were at the entrance of the portal, Capucine came and kissed me, but let’s go, a peck, nothing that would attract attention or anything. At that moment the doorman of the building comes out of his box and shouts at us that we can not be there, ‘outside’, he tells us. I thought that since I was just leaning against the wall I might have hit a switch or something, and that was why he was reprimanding us. We looked back and there was nothing, so the second we understood that we were getting attention for being a couple. ”

[Marta Álvarez] the lesbian activist spent nine years in a Colombian prison, for the murder of her brother (who allegedly tried to rape her), and experienced a series of relentless homophobic attacks at the hands of the guards and officials.
Álvarez spent years of her sentence trying to speak out about the inequality and eventually took her case to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR), where she argued she was being discriminated against for not receiving same-sex conjugal visits.

Male correctional officers and supervisors participated in “sexist and homophobic displays” that included discussions about the “sexual prowess” of female correctional officers, how women who are raped “really want it to happen,” and how women can’t defend themselves, “especially when they’re hit,” correctional officer Nicole Jones, 28, of Dormont alleges in the 12-page complaint.
Ms. Jones, who is gay, said her colleagues regularly spoke about how she wanted to “be a man and take testosterone.”

The Miami Herald reports that lesbian couple Indiana Parra and Rimbow Gomez were riding a moped together on March 16 when they allegedly had urine thrown at them by a man driving a white Dodge Ram van covered in extreme political stickers. The couple say that the man pulled alongside their moped and threw two cups of urine at them, soaking Gomez, before yelling, “Get off the road, dykes!” The two women explained that when they pulled away, the man chased them in his van, swerving in an apparent attempt to run them off the road.
Police identified Cesar Sayoc but didn’t arrest him.

Married lesbians in Pennsylvania who say they’ve endured years of homophobic slurs from their neighbors are fighting back by painting their house the colors of the rainbow.
The women, Lisa Licata and Sherry Lau, who moved to their Penn Hills neighborhood five years ago, said that their neighbors Ron Makay and his wife, Iolanda Wieczorkowski, have repeatedly shouted “homos, dykes, and lesbians” at them. They allege that Makay shot their dog with a BB gun, which he has denied.
To put some distance between themselves and the antigay neighbors, Licata and Lau erected a fence that they painted the colors of the rainbow flag. The fence allegedly set the neighbors off so much that they amped up the harassment. That’s when the women decided to paint the side of their house that faces the neighbors in rainbow colors.

Houston photographer Alicia Verdier knew things were about to get uncomfortable last month when a prospective client asked if she was gay.
When Verdier affirmed the woman’s inkling, the client told her “you homos are trying to ruin this country.”
“You’re going to burn in hell,” the woman said, according to screenshots of the conversation. “I want everyone to know just what kind of awful things you stand for, and I will be sure to let everyone know! Don’t you know Texas is a Christian state ??”

The Maces and their attorney suspect an individual who works with them at the hospital sent all of the letters. “There’s some really sick person out there,” said attorney Lori Peterson. “This person needs to be locked up for a really long time.”
The notes the Maces were mailed last year say they “should be locked up” because they are ruining the country. The letters, which are posted on the Maces’ fundraising page, make multiple threats against the couple and their daughter, including references to a gun and burning down their house.
Jaime Mace said new threatening notes were mailed in May to two of their gay friends who also work at the hospital and live in St. Peter.

Wendy and Trudy Dragoon were crossing a street in their Southeast neighborhood of Brentwood-Darlington yesterday evening around 7:30 when they heard an engine rev nearby. They turned to see a truck speeding towards them. The couple ran onto the sidewalk to watch the truck whip by, do a U-turn, and park in front of a nearby home. Three men exited the vehicle, including a skinny 20-something who had been yelling out the window at the women as the truck drove by.
“He got out of the car and said something about ‘Beating the shit out of fucking dykes,'” says Wendy. When Trudy crossed the street to where the truck was parked to confront the man, Wendy began filming using her cell phone.
