Chile: lesbians harassed and expelled from sanctuary

“Esta es un caso de violencia lesbofóbica, un episodio grave donde se humilla a dos mujeres, causándoles un gran daño emocional. Estos abusos son inaceptables y son ilegales a la luz de la Ley Zamudio. Las mujeres reportaron el caso ante Carabineros, quienes fueron enfáticos en señalar que ellas no pueden ser impedidas de ingresar al Santuario por ser lesbianas”, dijo el presidente de Movilh-Los Lagos, José Arcos.

Spain: Lesbian Couple Fight to Keep Popular Bar After Neighbours’ ‘Harassment Campaign’

The Lesbian couple who own Betty’s International Music Bar, in Cala Egos, fear their venue will be forced to close after the town hall warned them about the number of calls it has been receiving.

“Our neighbours just want us out, it’s been a non-stop campaign of harassment,” co-owner Leanne Green, 37, from near Leeds, told the Olive Press last night.

“The owner of the apartment upstairs told us he doesn’t want ‘dirty lesbians’ around here and his kids who live there have spat on our terraces and sometimes we see them just staring into our CCTV cameras trying to intimidate us.”

Ad intervenire in loro soccorso sono arrivate alcune persone presenti e l’aggressore si sarebbe rapidamente dileguato senza lasciare traccia.

France: 2019 SOSHomophobie report documents an act of lesbophobia a day

The number of hateful acts against lesbians reported to SOS homophobia has jumped 42%, from 257 in 2017 to 365 in 2018. Lesbophobia cases thus represent 22% of all situations recorded, compared to 16% in 2017.
These figures are probably more indicative of lesbians than a reflection of an increase in lesbophobia. At the end of 2017, #MeToo and #BalanceTonPorc movements, followed by many other mobilizations, allowed the denunciation of acts of harassment and aggression towards women, revealing the extent of situations that were previously minimized. Lesbian testimonials are certainly part of this wave of demands.
Lesbophobic acts in public places go from 9% to 13%. In these spaces, cases of physical assault involve lesbians and gays alike, respectively 38% and 36% of assaults.
The testimonies collected at SOS homophobia also highlight the various forms of aggression experienced by lesbians.

Le nombre d’actes haineux à l’encontre des lesbiennes rapporté à SOS homophobie a bondi de 42 %, passant de 257 en 2017 à 365 en 2018. Les cas de lesbophobie représentent ainsi 22 % de l’ensemble des situations enregistrées, contre 16 % en 2017.
Ces chiffres sont probablement davantage révélateurs de la prise de parole des lesbiennes que le reflet d’une augmentation de la lesbophobie. Fin 2017, les mouvements #MeToo et #BalanceTonPorc, suivis de nombreuses autres mobilisations, ont permis la dénonciation d’actes de harcèlement et d’agression envers les femmes, révélant l’ampleur de situations jusqu’alors minimisées. Les témoignages de lesbiennes s’inscrivent donc assurément dans cette vague revendicative.
Les actes lesbophobes dans les lieux publics passent de 9 % à 13 %. Dans ces espaces, les cas d’agressions physiques concernent autant les lesbiennes que les gays, respectivement 38 % et 36 % des agressions.

Brazil: murders of lesbians increased by 237% in 3 years

Between 2014 and 2017 the murders of lesbian women increased by 237%.  The study ” Murdered by lesbophobia – The stories that no one has” made by “We – Feminists Dissidences” collective, shows both how crimes have increased and also that in most cases the murdered women were young and black.
In Brazil, lesbian women face many dangers, it goes beyond lesbophobia, it is also machismo, misogyny and racism. “Lesbians are sexually and affectively exclusively with women, but the main lesbian killers in Brazil are men,” says Cinthia Abreu, member of the World March of Women and March of Black Women of São Paulo.

Entre 2014 y 2017 el asesinatos de mujeres lesbianas aumentó un 237%. El estudio “Asesinadas por lesbofobia – Las historias que nadie cuenta”, hecho por el colectivo “Nosotras – Disidencias Feministas”, además de mostrar cómo han aumentado los crímenes demuestra que en la mayoría de los casos las mujeres asesinadas eran jóvenes y negras.
En Brasil las mujeres lesbianas se encuentran ante muchos peligros, va más allá de la lesbofobia, también es el machismo, la misoginia y el racismo. “Las lesbianas se relacionan sexual y afectivamente exclusivamente con mujeres, pero los principales asesinos de lesbianas en Brasil son hombres”, afirma Cinthia Abreu, integrante de la Marcha Mundial de Mujeres y Marcha de Mujeres Negras de São Paulo.
