Lerato Moloi laid to rest and still no suspects charged in her murder

On Saturday, thousands of people converged at the Naledi Community Hall to bid her farewell.  After the first attack, Thabo said Moloi opened a case at Naledi Police Station. “They didn’t follow up.”

After the attack, the police issued a statement saying three suspects were to appear in court on Thursday. None appeared.  An officer at the Protea Magistrate’s Court told journalists that the docket had not arrived but would be available on Friday. Again, no suspects appeared.

When contacted for comment, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority Phindi Louw said a murder docket was not placed on the roll as there was no link to the arrested suspects.

“This means the docket did not meet the minimum requirements for a matter to be placed on the roll.

Why a harassed Indian lesbian couple going missing does not make news

What is most saddening is, thanks to social stigma, a story like this is more often than not swept the under the carpet. It is because of such entrenched stigma that a couple — who merely sought to give their relationship a name — has been missing for more than two months, and it hasn’t received any mainstream media attention.

Corrective Rape Upheld: Judge fails to convict Innes Frazer of sexual assault on disabled lesbian teenager

As he was cleared of sexual assault at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court, Innes Frazer, 30, was slammed by a judge for abusing the vulnerable teenager ‘for his own sexual gratification’. (Isn’t this called rape?)

Muslim lesbian couple defy death threats to tie the knot in civil ceremony

Two former Birmingham students have defied death threats to make legal history by becoming the first Muslim lesbian couple to get married in a civil ceremony in the UK. Rehana Kausar, 34, and Sobia Kamar, 29, from Pakistan, tied the knot at a registration office in front of their solicitors and two Pakistani friends earlier this month.

Scottish man who threatened the lives of his lesbian niece and her girlfriend sentenced to 60 hours of unpaid work

Pratt also sent the two women a message which included their home address, and another in which he said he couldn’t wait to “ruin” their Christmas.

Toronto: Anonymous letter sent to lesbian politician threatening attack on pride parade

A letter has been sent to an out politician in Canada threatening an attack on a Pride parade.

The letter was sent to Kristyn Wong-Tam, an openly gay politician who sits on Toronto City Council, as the city marked a day against homophobic bullying on Wednesday.
