Fresno, CA student pelted with full juice boxes for being lesbian

Logann Pruneda, a student at Bullard High, says she was pelted with full juice boxes at school on Monday for being gay. It was her 16th birthday.

The Fresno Unified sophomore said that after a fire drill outside the school, she was hit with three boxes of apple juice from behind, leaving abrasions on her neck and back.

She heard a male call her “a faggot, a queer, a lesbo” during the attack, but did not see who did it, and did not recognize the voice.

“They were pretty hard throws,” she said. “All I heard was them calling me really mean names that involved my sexuality.”

A school board investigation in Tampa Bay, Florida has cleared teacher Lora Jane Riedas-Chuchman, after a complaint that she banned Christian rosary beads and Make America Great Again hats, and discussed LGBTQ rights and related issues in her freshman math class at Riverview High School.

Nancy E. Snow, a philosophy professor who helped O’Brien hunt for houses in the area last month, said O’Brien’s work is not the real issue. “I think it’s all about her sexual orientation,” she told the newspaper.Snow called the withdrawal of an offer to O’Brien “a public disgrace and an embarrassment.”

“This is a travesty that will have long-term impact for our ability to retain and hire high quality faculty,” she said.

Illinois: Lesbian couple’s son denied enrollment in Catholic school

Kate and Ann Bloomfield planned to send their sons to Catholic school and raise them in the Catholic Church — until about a month ago, that is, when they were told they could not enroll their oldest son in school because they’re lesbians. That’s the response the Bloomfields received when they inquired about preschool at the Cathedral of St. Peter School in Rockford.
